Varying nature along the hiking trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n There are hazel bushes and a fine meadow flora. The trail passes through both forests and farms, small sparkling ponds and several picnic areas along your trail. Picnic areas are located in several places so you can enjoy nature and rest your legs from time to time. To walk this trail you need a car at each end, or you can go back after the trail, but shorten the distance by walking gravel roads. The starting point can also be at Rokkmakkstugan, where you go in an anti-clockwise direction from the cottage towards the North \u00c4ngen mine to walk along the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The history of Tiskaretj\u00e4rn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n The first person to come to this place and start growing things was a forest Finn named Joseph Jakobsson H\u00e4m\u00e4l\u00e4inen. He came here as early as around 1625. When H\u00e4m\u00e4l\u00e4inen died, he left Tiskaretj\u00e4rn farm to his daughter Kajsa Josephsdotter and her husband Hans Olofsson Norilainen in his will. Two of their sons later divided the family home into There Nol and There S\u00f6. The first teacher in Gr\u00e4smark, school master Matthes Matthesson Norilainen (1767-1841), was raised there, in There Nol. His life is described in the novel Scholm\u00e4steran by Jan Olov Nilsson. In the middle of the 19th century, Tiskaretj\u00e4rn had grown into a village with five farms and five crofts and a population of almost 100 people, including maids, farm workers and hired help. \u00a7<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Atikullen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Within the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn nature reserve lies Atikullen, with very rich flora. The name comes from the Finnish word Authio, which means deserted (the deserted hill). During the 17th century, Sweden was at war with Norway and on one occasion the people of the village were gathered together at Atikullen with their animals and all their possessions. As there were so many animals in such a small space, a popular comment was that this hill was the absolutely most fruitful place in the region. It was thought that this was due to all the animal waste that ended up on the hill. Much later, the explanation came that the powerful vegetation is due instead to the presence of the hyperite type of rock, which is very nutritious for plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Combine trails for a longer hike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Along the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail there are two trails that allow you to choose to walk shorter distances. One of these is the Tischas trail, which is a circular route of around 4.5 km around the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn. A suitable starting point for this walk is the car part at Tiskaretj\u00e4rn nature reserve. The other trail is the Ambiastorp trail. This one is 3 km and starts at the other nature reserve, Kalvh\u00f6jden. These circular routes allow you to choose different routes when combining the trails for a longer hike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Directions to Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n To walk the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail, follow the orange square markings and arrow signs through the reserve. The trail runs across Atikullen and past the Northern Tiskaretj\u00e4rn, but it is also possible to walk the Tischas trail after the road through the reserve, as the two trails join together at the reserve borders. If you walk with a dog, the Tischas trail is recommended. The Tischas trail is also marked with 4-edge square markings throughout the reserve. The trail follows the gravel road to begin with, but in the reserve it passes a stile over the sheep fence and then follows about 200 m of forest track, otherwise it mainly follows the old tracks. This trail is an easy, lakeside hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Past all the plants of the Finn farm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n The Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail runs through the reserve and passes the old Finnish farm, the animals and the interesting flora, field gentians, yellow rattle, spring peas, fox-and-cubs, etc. Atikullen has a rich flora of hazel, linden, elm and blue anemones. Here you will find picnic tables, information boards, a chemical toilet and parking spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tischas trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n Out on the gravel road, the Tischas trail turns off and follows the road along the lake shore and back to the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn reserve. The Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail, however, continues up through the forest, follows a long stone wall up to Kalvh\u00f6jden, when you once again experience a genuine idyll, seeing the three farms in a row. The small village road takes you past pastures and through the Kalvh\u00f6jden nature reserve. Kalvh\u00f6jden nature reserve consists of hay meadows and grazing pastures on calcareous ground and felled trees. There is a meadow flora that is unusual for today’s agricultural landscape, but similar to that of the Tiskaretj\u00e4rn. Great views over Lake Borrsj\u00f6n. Picnic tables, information boards, a chemical toilet and parking spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ambiastorp trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n The Ambiastorp trail passes, as the name suggests, the remains of the Ambias croft. The Tiskaretj\u00e4rn trail now follows the Ambiastorp trail (3 km), but it is also possible to take a short cut and walk the shorter stretch to Rokkmakk, if you are feeling tired. You walk on forest paths, but also long distances on the old tracks, you pass and follow 2 large streams, which are lively and run between the stones and the rocks, and several mill and saw remains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Croft ruins at Ambiastorp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n At Ambiastorp, all that remains today is the foundation of the croft, but also foundations of outbuildings, and badgers have moved into the old root cellars. It’s an exciting experience to walk around and discover strange remains from past times and try to understand what they were used for. Close to the sign and in the shadow of the foundation of the large house, there is a stock of a stock of the shy but fragrant Moneses uniflora, which is known locally as pale moon, it usually flowers in early June and you should look for a low plant with hanging small yellow and white stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swimming in Lake Borrsj\u00f6n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n It is possible to make a detour to Lake Borrsj\u00f6n and bathe from the sandy beach, which lies between the gravel road and the lake, before proceeding up to the actual croft at Ambiastorp. To do so you take a left around 500 meters from the reserve, when you arrive on the driveway below the slope, from where it is another 300 meters to the beach. Bathe in the M\u00f6rtb\u00e4cken stream<\/h2>\n\n\n\n When you have come up all of the slopes, you will reach an old stone bridge, where the outlet to Koltj\u00e4rn becomes M\u00f6rtb\u00e4cken, and why not take off your boots and cool your feet in the chill water, letting them dry in the sun before continuing your hike.
